Following Biodiversity and Finance Day at the ongoing COP 16 in Cali, Colombia, members of the Ministerial Alliance for Ambition on Nature Finance (MAANF) and countries supporting its objectives will on Tuesday hold a press conference to share their ‘Ministerial Statement Seeking Accountability on Ambition for Nature Finance’.

The ministers will also call on developed countries to: make good on nature finance commitments made at COP15; significantly improve reporting on financial contributions; and create an accountability working group of Ministers of Environment and Finance to deliver on T19a.

Ministers will also speak about the current state of play at COP16, including the progress of negotiations, and share news regarding new membership to the Alliance and the next steps for the group.


Speakers will include Ministers from the MAANF and other supporting countries including but not limited to:

Hon. Minister Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako – Minister of State for Environment, Federal Republic of Nigeria

Hon. Minister Jiwoh Abdulai – Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Sierra Leone

Ms. Safiya Sawney – Special Envoy and Ambassador for Climate Government of Grenada and Special Advisor, Hon. Kerryne James Minister of Environment, Climate Resilience and Renewable Energy

The press briefing will take place in the Media Center at the Centro Centro De Eventos Valle Del Pacifico in Cali, Colombia.
